Decker School of Nursing Intra-University Transfer (IUT) and Double Degree (DD)
We welcome your application for internal transfer/double degree to the Decker School of Nursing, and encourage you to obtain more information and academic advising before you complete the online application via BU BRAIN.
Applications are reviewed for the fall semester only. Applications are due by March 15; decisions are released by July 1. Registration for admitted IUT/DD applicants will reopen during the regularly scheduled adjustment period, just before classes begin. Seats in anatomy and physiology and all core nursing courses are reserved for admitted students.
Admission is competitive and is based solely on your performance in the prerequisite coursework. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale), and a minimum 3.0 average in the prerequisite requirements. Repeated courses are averaged together; they are not replaced with the highest grade for admission review. An applicant’s introductory biology course grade will be included only if it increases your prerequisite GPA.
Prerequisite course completion is required prior to starting the core nursing courses. In the traditional four-year plan nursing prerequisites typically take four semesters (freshman and sophomore years) to complete.

Anatomy, physiology, chemistry and microbiology courses expire after 10 years. Decker
requires comprehensive examinations in expired prerequisite subject areas or a repeat
of coursework to demonstrate proficiency.
All courses must be taken for at least three credits. It is expected that anatomy, chemistry, microbiology and physiology include a laboratory component.
Candidates are encouraged to contact Decker Academic Advising with questions regarding transfer courses. Required prerequisites may be taken in person or online at any accredited college or university.
