AP/IB

MAKE SURE YOUR ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) AND/OR INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) SCORES HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED TO THE OFFICE OF UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS.

ADVANCED PLACEMENT CREDIT

If you selected to have your AP scores sent to Binghamton, they were automatically sent to Undergraduate Admissions by the College Board, and will appear on your student record.

  • Test scores of 3, 4 or 5 receive credit. For complete Binghamton equivalencies, go to the online transfer credit evaluation.
  • Knowing your scores will help you create your schedule when you register for classes at Orientation. If you haven't received your scores by Orientation, estimate what you expect to earn. If your AP scores are above or below your estimates, you may change your schedule, if necessary, at regular registration prior to the start of the semester.
  • Some AP exam scores are equivalent to Binghamton courses. Make sure that you do not enroll in courses at Binghamton for which you received AP credit in high school because you will not receive credit for repeated coursework. You can see if your AP credit has been evaluated by looking at your DegreeWorks, which shows all of the requirements needed to receive a degree.

INTERNATIONAL BACCALAUREATE (IB) CREDIT

Credit is awarded only for Higher Level IB exams. IB scores are submitted to Binghamton through the IB website. If you have not released your scores, go to "order IB transcripts."

For Binghamton University's IB credit guidelines, visit our website.

A-LEVEL EXAMS

Credit may be awarded for some A-Level and AS-Level exams. If you have A-Level or AS-Level scores to report, email Undergraduate Admissions at admit@binghamton.edu.

COURSE-TO-COURSE EQUIVALENCIES

Many students take college coursework during high school through a local community college or university. Be sure to send official transcripts from these institutions directly to Binghamton as soon as possible so that we may add course equivalencies to your record.

  • Credits are awarded on a course-by-course basis. If your school does not appear on the transfer equivalency tables we will determine course equivalencies upon transcript evaluation.

Harpur students should consult the Harpur College transfer guidelines and policies.

FINAL TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED

In order to complete your enrollment file at Binghamton University, you are required to submit a final high school transcript. Missing final transcripts may prevent you from registering for future semester courses and financial aid disbursement. If you have not already done so:

  • Request your high school's counseling office to send your final transcript to: Binghamton University, Office of Undergraduate Admissions, PO Box 6001, Binghamton, NY 13902-6001.
  • It must include: official signature of school seal, stamp or signature; date of graduation; final grades in all subjects; and type of diploma earned.

Binghamton University has numerous programs which lead to licensure and certification in New York and in other states.
