Let us know that you'll be attending Homecoming
At long last, spring has arrived in Binghamton. However, we're looking ahead to fall - in particular, Homecoming. Make plans now to join us on campus Oct. 2-4.
We recently launched the Homecoming 2009 website. You'll find a schedule of events for the weekend. Be sure to check the site on a regular basis because we plan to add an RSVP/registration system (so you can let us and your classmates know you're attending Homecoming). All alumni and their families are welcome at Homecoming.
The following groups will hold reunions: Classes of 1959, 1969, 1979, 1984, 1989, 1999 and 2009, Young Alumni (Classes of 2004-08), geology, philosopy and political science majors, Telefund callers, student information assistants and Rosefsky Scholars. Homecoming 2009 will also celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dickinson Community, the 30th anniversary of the Caribbean Student Association and the 25th anniversary of the apartment communities.
We invite Dickinson alumni to come home on Friday and relax in the Hospitality Centers that will be staffed by current Dickinson residents. Don’t miss Open Mike Night; take this opportunity to get on stage and relive your college days through stand-up, music or anything else. On Saturday, the Hospitality Centers will be open all day and current residents will give building tours. Dickinson Dining Hall will host a special Alumni Lunch. Be a player or fan at Co-Rec football on Saturday afternoon, and join the DC Players for a unique theatre experience on Saturday night. Festivities close with a Sunday brunch.
The Philosophy Department will hold its second reunion during Homecoming 2009. The Department invites its alumni and current students for a reception and networking on Friday, Oct. 2, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. The reception will be held on the 12th floor of the Library Tower. Prof. Max Pensky, the incoming department chair, will preside over the festivities. This reunion has a group at Facebook.com; join today. You'll need to be a registered member of Facebook - and part of the Binghamton University network - to join the group.
Former Telefund callers are invited an open house at the new Telefund office on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Then, march in the annual Homecoming parade, where the Telefund float will make its way around campus.
Special activities for the Class of 1959 reunion include an opening reception, campus tour and visit to Colonial Hall, and a Dutch treat dinner.
The signature event of the weekend will be Tailgate ’09 — a huge outdoor barbecue, followed by a men’s soccer game and dazzling fireworks display.
Also, please consider making a gift to the Binghamton Fund in honor of your reunion.
Contact your classmates now and encourage them to come back to campus. The more of your friends who attend, the better Homecoming will be.
