Alumni Relations Assistant
Binghamton University Office of Alumni Relations
This professional institutional advancement position provides support to the senior, assistant and associate directors of alumni relations. The position requires a large degree of independent work and the ability to take initiative in drafting correspondence, minutes, reports and agendas. The Alumni Relations Assistant will play a key role in scheduling appointments and meetings, making staff travel arrangements and providing support to events on and off campus. All My Mothers and FathersMichael Blumenthal '69 wrote his eighth book of poems, No Hurry: Poems 2000-2012 (Etruscan Press, due in September 2012). He is visiting professor of law at the West Virginia University College of Law; information about his other books, including his memoir All My Mothers and Fathers (Harper Collins, 2002) can be found at Michael-Blumenthal.com.

Kenneth Goldberg, MA '72 was reappointed to the Cleveland Heights (Ohio) Landmark Commission, which has seven members appointed by the City Council. He was previously on the Commission from 1990 to 2000. Also, he was invited – for the third time – to participate on the jury for the Celebration of Preservation Awards Program, sponsored jointly by the Cleveland Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and the Cleveland Restoration Society. He is library/records administrator for the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency in Cleveland.

Howard SchilitHoward Schilit, MS '73 was profiled in Barron's in the spring. He is considered America's pre-eminent forensic accountant. He wrote the best-selling book Financial Shenanigans: How to Detect Accounting Gimmicks and Fraud in Financial Reports. He is founder and CEO of the Financial Shenanigans Detection Group (thefsdgroup.com).

Southwestern Indian RingsPaula Baxter '75, MA '77 wrote Southwestern Indian Rings (Schiffer, 2011), a book that provides a design history of this jewelry form, from pre-contact artifacts to contemporary artistic innovations. Barry Katzen '76 took the more than 350 color photos that appear in the book.

Catherine Mumford '08 received her master's degree in journalism (with distinction) from Edinburgh/Napier University in Scotland in November 2011. She relocated to London, where she obtained a position as communications coordinator for the National Basketball Association (Europe, Middle East and Africa) where she'll be actively involved in the Summer Olympics.

Pallavee Panchal '08 was accepted into the Peace Corps and departed for Indonesia in April to begin pre-service training as an English education Peace Corps volunteer. Upon graduation from volunteer training, Panchal will work with students in the 10th and 11th grades.
