Be an ambassador for your alma mater
The spring semester is in full swing and recruiting activities are underway. The University's Office of Undergraduate Admissions is looking for a few dedicated alumni to help recruit students for this fall and beyond.
Whether you're a brand-new graduate of Binghamton, or enjoying extra time in retirement, you can help inspire new students to explore and enroll at the premier public university in the Northeast.
Spring college fairs are very important events because they plant the seeds for next year's senior class. Families are hungry to connect with people who know about a school, and our alumni love to share their passion and knowledge of how life-changing the Binghamton University experience can be.
Visit the Alumni Admissions Volunteer website and click on "College Fair Representative." There, you'll see links to calendars showing when and where the events will be held. Click on the event to register online. Remember to bookmark the site and revisit often because we will add new fairs throughout the spring!
No matter where you live, there is another way for you to help us: e-mail a note to newly admitted students. One of our most successful volunteer efforts in past years is when alumni like you reach out to admitted students. Use stories of your unique Binghamton experiences and contagious Bearcat enthusiasm to encourage top students to enroll for the coming fall.
It's fun and easy; just send a message to a small list of about 15 admitted students. We try to match you, to the best of our abilities, with students who may live near you.
If you have never helped before, this is a great way to begin. Contact Andy Morris, associate director of admissions and coordinator of the Alumni Admissions Volunteer Program and tell him your full name and location, or where you'd like to target your outreach.
We have received another record number of applications. All indicators say it will be another talented class. That may not be enough for students to choose Binghamton University. You can make the difference by representing us at college fairs and personally sharing your stories via e-mail.
