Chapters and Affinities spotlight

By Steve Seepersaud

BOLDOur Bearcats of the Last Decade (BOLD) alumni had a blast getting together this past month! BOLD alumni from the Greater Binghamton Chapter got together with a local group, Southern Tier Young Professionals, for a networking mixer at the Blind Tiger Pub in Johnson City, to meet, mingle and build new connections. If you are a BOLD graduate and would like to plan an event for other BOLD alumni in your area, please let us know!

BOLDOur D.C. Metro Chapter put a new spin on the concept of Team Trivia Night. BOLD graduates in the Washington area formed a Binghamton University alumni team at Buffalo Billiards on Sept. 17. This was the chapter's first-ever event for BOLD alumni and it gave attendees the chance to engage in networking and test their knowledge of obscure information. If you are interested in helping plan future BOLD programs and events in the region, please e-mail

Earlier that same week, D.C. Metro alumni got together at Oriole Park at Camden Yards to see the Yankees in action against the Baltimore Orioles. Our alumni sported their Binghamton green and enjoyed networking at one of the few remaining opportunities to see Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, who is retiring after this season.

Also in September, the Metro New York Chapter held its first annual chapter meeting, at which nearly 40 alumni shared ideas for future events and programs. Fall and winter Metro New York events will include:

  • Thursday, Nov. 4 – Harpur Law Council/Metro New York Chapter Law Alumni Networking Event
  • Thursday, Nov. 20 – Long Island Speed Networking and Thursday Night Football
  • Friday, Jan. 16, 2015 – BOLD Breakfast: The Art of Networking

Information about these events will be sent via e-mail. If you have event suggestions or would like to help planning any of these upcoming events in the Metro New York area, please e-mail the chapter leaders.

  • Friday, Oct. 3 – Greater Binghamton Chapter: First Friday Event at Remlik's: Get together with other Binghamton graduates at a reception, then enjoy the Art Walk at your own pace, taking in a variety of works by Binghamton graduates (register now).
  • Tuesday, Oct. 7 – Syracuse Chapter: hireBING and Alumni Networking: Do you want to make a difference in the life of a current student or new graduate? Learn how you can recruit students for internships, externships and jobs (register now).
