Group Fitness delivers a variety of specialized classes for men and women of all fitness levels from beginner to advanced. Each week over 100 classes (schedule) are offered by nationally certified instructors who will motivate and encourage you to reach your goals in a fun, exciting and safe atmosphere.
Classes target cardiovascular fitness, muscle toning and strengthening, flexibility and mind-body wellness. Most classes use special equipment during workout phases. New equipment includes:
- Body Bars
- Hand Weights
- Kettle Bells
- Battle Ropes
- Spin Bikes
- Stability Balls
- Agility Ladder
- Yoga Mats
Each semester Fitness/Wellness hosts a variety of national certification and CEU workshops on campus by fitness organizations such as AFAA, ACE, Mad Dogg and others. These opportunities are available at an additional cost, on a first come, first serve basis to students, faculty/staff and the greater community. Are you interested in learning to teach Group Fitness classes? Each spring we offer an internship course which will educate, train, and prepare you to take the AFAA primary certification class to teach Group Fitness classes.
Our goal is to offer you a training experience with awesome music and the group fitness energy. Our enthusiastic and dedicated GROUP FITNESS INSTRUCTORS will provide a safe, fun and effective program aimed at educating you about total body fitness, health and wellness while helping you achieve your fitness goals. We will always show you proper form in order to get every last ounce of benefit from your workout. You will love how you feel - energized, healthy and happy!
All instructors are experienced and certified Binghamton University students. Each instructor brings their own unique background and interests, therefore classes are diverse and styles may vary depending on the instructor. Try all the classes, find a class and instructor that best fits your goals and get a great workout!
Classes are rooted in a team spirit approach with emphasis on fitness, form and function. Classes are taught at the intermediate level, showing modifications for all fitness levels –ensuring everyone has a positive experience. Classes incorporate the best of a full body strength program, agility, speed, cardiovascular conditioning, core exercises, flexibility training, and de-stressing methods, giving you a balanced and complete workout!
