Student group educates campus about service

The Student Volunteer Center (SVC) is an entirely student-run group that provides information about and access to numerous volunteering opportunities on and off campus. SVC members plan and organize community service events and programs of their own, and also work to establish ties with other volunteer organizations on and off campus, cross advertising volunteer opportunities and working to create a cohesive and inter-supporting network of volunteer groups. Its goal is to foster a sense of community among SVC members, event participants, the student body and the Binghamton community at large.

Active members of the SVC are expected to complete at least 10 hours of service through SVC each semester. During the 2014-15 academic year, SVC members completed around 1,500 hours of community service in total.
