Background
Matthew Uttermark is an assistant professor in the Department of Public Administration. He earned his doctoral degree in political science from Florida State University. His research agenda focuses on evaluating the balance of power between national, state and local governments, as well as how racial inequality influences contemporary public policy and institutions.
His research has been published in a variety of prominent public policy and social science journals including Policy Studies Journal, Social Forces, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, and Polity.
At Binghamton University, Uttermark teaches classes in research methods and public policy.
