A Message from the Chair

Kanad Ghose

Thank you for your interest in the Computer Science Department at Binghamton University. We offer Baccalaureate, Masters and PhD degrees in Computer Science. Careers in computing remain in very high demand and offer not only the comforts of a high-paying job, but also the intellectual challenges of a creative and productive profession.

As one of the earliest accredited Computer Science programs in the nation and in the state of New York (since 1988), we strive hard to offer a high quality, state-of-the-art education in Computer Science at an affordable cost. That same commitment to quality continues into our MS and PhD programs. We remain steadfast in our goal to develop leaders for each successive generation of computer scientists, consistent with our national ranking as a top-class public university.

We are especially proud of the long and sustained placement record of our BS, MS and PhD Graduates and the high quality of research conducted by our Faculty and their students. Many of our faculty are well-known researchers in their respective fields and support doctoral and highly qualified MS students with graduate research assistantships.

At this time, we have approximately 400 CS undergraduate majors and 75 undergraduates in our dual-diploma program (which is offered in partnership with two top Turkish Universities leading to a BS in Information Systems). At the graduate level, we have 240 Master's and 60 PhD students. Detailed information about all of our degree programs and pertinent contact information are available within our CS web pages.

We are confident that you will enjoy the challenges and rewards of our state-of-the-art undergraduate and graduate programs in Computer Science.
