Computer Science research overview
Our research focus is in the broad areas of computer and information systems, emphasizing the experimental aspects.
With new faculty and broadening interests in the discipline, faculty research has expanded into areas such as experimental sensor/wireless systems, mobile systems, cybersecurity, data mining/analytics and healthcare.
Our faculty regularly earn competitive funding from various federal agencies and the industry through hard work, innovation, collaboration and investigation. Our students participate in research early and often which prepares them for the real world and make them attractive to leading technology companies. Our annual research expenditures average $2 million and are expected to grow with our faculty size.
Computer Science faculty have led the campus in both awarded and submitted patent applications and a few patents have been licensed.
An interesting development in the recent years has been student entrepreneurship activities, which led to start-ups companies.
