American Red Cross Real Heroes Award presented to Matthew Gawors, Adjunct Lecturer
Matthew Gawors, Adjunct Lecturer for the Health and Wellness Studies program, was lifeguarding for the community's Master Swim Program in the early morning of August 2, 2013 when a local community member and respectable tri-athlete experienced an unexpected medical emergency while in the pool. With the assistance of other swimmers, Mr. Gawors coordinated a successful water rescue and was able to transfer the swimmer from the water to the pool deck where medical care could be provided. It was because of the actions and professionalism taken by Mr. Gawors that the outcome of this incident was so positive. Thank you Matt!
