Officers

• Stuart F. Koenig ’73, LHD ’25, chair

  

  Koenig is a seasoned executive with significant experience in real estate private equity, investment banking and finance. He is on the advisory committee of LeadCrest Capital Partners, the leading fund manager exclusively dedicated to sale-leaseback and build-to-suit investments in Europe. 

  He retired as senior partner and chief operating officer of the real estate division of Ares Management and served as chair of all of its real estate investment committees, including Ares Commercial Real Estate Corp. (ACRE), a public mortgage real estate investment trust.

  He earned a bachelor’s degree in English from Binghamton University. He also has a Master of Business Administration in accounting from Baruch College.

• Tyrone E. Muse, LHD ’25, vice chair

  

  Muse is president and CEO of Visions Federal Credit Union, a $4 billion financial institution based in Endicott/Endwell, N.Y. Prior to joining Visions in May 2013, Muse was chief financial officer of Hudson Valley Federal Credit Union based in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

  Muse has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, including at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Goldman Sachs (controller at Archon Group — Real Estate Division) and GE Asset Management. He is also a certified public accountant.

  He has a bachelor’s degree, master’s degree in accounting and Master of Business Administration, all from Northeastern University.

• Jeffrey S. Tucker ’84, treasurer

  

  Tucker is a retired vice president of Booz & Co. (formerly Booz Allen and Hamilton), a global management consulting firm. Over his nearly 25-year career, Tucker worked with senior management across a range of industries on business, technology and operations strategy issues. For three years, he served as chief operating officer of the firm’s U.S. commercial business.

  Tucker serves on the board of trustees of The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J., and of the JCC of Northern New Jersey. He also serves as chair of the board of trustees for The Valley Medical Group. He was a member of the board of trustees of the Ad Council and a member of the Media Council of the Paley Center.

  He graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Science, with honors, in mathematics/computer science and economics. Tucker earned a Master of Business in finance and marketing in 1987 from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.

• Katherine E. Wanner ’89, secretary

  

  Wanner is a founding partner of Fairway Capital Management. She served as an operating partner and advisor at Abundant Venture Partners from 2016 to 2020.

  Wanner spent 22 years at Adams Street Partners, a global private markets investment management firm and its predecessor organizations, where she made more than 100 primary and secondary investments in venture capital, growth and buyout funds around the world. Wanner managed the U.S. primary investment team and oversaw deployment of client’s capital into U.S. primary investments, annually totaling between $800 and $1 billion into over 20 funds. She served on the firm’s global primary investment committee, which was responsible for sourcing, analyzing and monitoring investments in private equity partnerships, implementing strategy and approving all global primary fund investments.

  Before joining the Adams Street Partners Private Equity Group in 1998, she was at Brinson Partners for five years and served in various roles within the finance, communications and business development groups where she was responsible for the revenue cycle, statistical analysis and market research.

  Wanner received a Bachelor of Science in finance from Binghamton University and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

• Nana Saheb Banerjee, PhD ’96

  

  Banerjee is president and CEO of Pelmorex Corp., a globally leading climate science, emergency alerting and media company.

  With nearly 30 years of experience in the global scaling of analytics, information services and technology-oriented businesses, Banerjee is broadly recognized for his leadership and track record of innovation.

  Previously, he served as a senior advisor at Cerberus Capital Management, president and CEO of McGraw-Hill, group president and officer of Verisk Analytics, and CEO of Argus Information & Advisory Services.

  He has a doctorate in applied mathematics from Binghamton University, a Master of Science in mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, and a bachelor's degree with honors in mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.

• James B. Bankoski ’91

  

  Bankoski is a vice president of engineering at Google, leading 540 of Chrome’s engineers. He has played a key role in creating video and image codecs used by billions globally. His leadership has driven advancements in web performance, capabilites, security and privacy, benefiting many Google businesses.

  Prior to his current role, Bankoski was a distinguished engineer at Google, where he led teams that produced industry-leading media compression technology. He also served as chief technology officer at On2 Technologies, a public company acquired by Google.

  Bankoski holds a Master of Science in computer science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a concentration in computer vision and machine learning. His bachelor's degree from Binghamton University is in computer science.

  He has received the Watson Distinguished Alumni Award and has served on the board of the EXCELERATE Campaign Committee.

• Steven H. Bloom ’78, LHD ’10

  

  Bloom is CEO of Bloom Family LLC. He has more than 30 years of experience in the investment management business. This includes founding and managing Sagamore Hill Capital Management LP, a multibillion-dollar hedge fund, and being one of five founding partners of Susquehanna Partners, an international proprietary trading firm. Before entering the investment field, he worked as an environmental scientist for several years.

  Bloom is actively involved with several philanthropic activities, including serving as a trustee at The New School.

  Bloom receiving a Bachelor of Arts in biological sciences and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Binghamton University. He also has a Master of Public Health from the University of Michigan. He holds the chartered financial analyst (CFA) designation.

• Andrew Bonzani ’86

  

  Bonzani is executive vice president, general counsel and secretary of the Interpublic Group of Companies Inc. (IPG) 

  Bonzani joined IPG in 2012 as general counsel and leader of IPG's legal team around the world, overseeing activities related to the traditional media, advertising and public relations business operations of IPG's agencies, acquisitions, trademarks, regulatory compliance, litigation, corporate governance, SEC reporting, compliance and human resources matters.

  Prior to joining IPG, Bonzani served for 18 years in the IBM legal department, most recently as vice president, assistant general counsel and secretary, responsible for the corporate secretary group, the corporate and securities functions, the human resources legal group and the global customer financing attorneys. Bonzani began his career with Willkie Farr & Gallagher in New York, specializing in corporate and securities matters and mergers and acquisitions.

  Bonzani holds a JD from St. John's University School of Law, where he served on the law review. He is a member of the Harpur College Law Council of Binghamton University.

• Anita J. Borkenstein ’86

  

  Borkenstein is co-founder and past president of Impact100 Westchester, a women’s collective giving organization engaging women in philanthropy and awarding transformational grants to local nonprofits.  

  Upon graduation from Binghamton in 1986, she started a career in operations and technology at Chemical Bank (now JPMorgan Chase). Since retiring from the bank in 2002, she has served on the boards of various community organizations, including as president and treasurer of the Edgemont Scholarship Council, which raises funds and grants scholarships to local students. She has also volunteered as a coach for underserved Yonkers, N.Y., high school students to ensure they were prepared for and applied to college. She has also been a guest lecturer at Binghamton's College of Community and Public Affairs.

  Borkenstein earned a bachelor's degree in economics from Binghamton and a Master of Business Administration from Fordham University.

• John M. Carrigg, MBA ’83

  

  Carrigg is president and CEO of United Health Services, a $1 billion regional healthcare delivery system of healthcare providers and supporting organizations primarily serving New York’s Southern Tier and surrounding areas. As the largest healthcare system and private employer in Greater Binghamton, UHS has about 6,500 employees and serves over 600,000 residents.   

  Carrigg serves on the boards of multiple organizations, including as an advisory board member for Binghamton University's Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science.

  His bachelor's degree is from St. Andrews College in Laurinburg, N.C.

• Cathleen M. Ellsworth ’86

  

  Ellsworth is a partner of private investment firm Lindsay Goldberg. She leads the firm's capital raising and investor relations efforts.  

  Ellsworth was previously managing director, head of fundraising and investor relations and co-head of GEPIF Co-Investments and Capital Formation at BlackRock.

  Ellsworth has more than 35 years of capital raising, fund formation and strategy, investor relations, and marketing and communications experience.

  Prior to joining BlackRock in 2017, she was a managing director, partner and chief marketing officer at First Reserve, a leading global private equity investment firm, where she was responsible for the fundraising, investor relations and co-investment programs for both the energy private equity and energy infrastructure funds.

  Before joining First Reserve in 1990, Ellsworth was an executive in the marketing group at MacKay-Shields Financial Corp. Prior to that, she spent several years with Chemical Bank, primarily working in the marketing area of The Chemical Investment Group and its related entities.

  Ellsworth earned an associate degree from Bradford College, a bachelor's degree in management from Binghamton and an MBA from Fordham University.

• Karen M. Feuer ’87

  

  Feuer is chief of staff to the president of S&P Global Ratings. She also manages employee engagement and recognition and prepares presentations and other materials for board meetings, investor conferences and town halls. She is a member of the operating committee. Feuer joined S&P Global Ratings in 2003 as vice president, strategic planning. 

  Prior to joining S&P Global, Feuer worked in product management and product development at both startups and large companies, including TheStreet, Intralinks, Express Scripts and JPMorgan Chase & Co.

  Feuer's bachelor's degree from Binghamton is in biological sciences. She also has a Master of Business Administration in marketing and international business from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a Master of Science in communication from Northwestern University. 

  Feuer has been a member of the Harpur College Advocacy Council since 2021 and an alumni admissions volunteer since 2018. She is also a mentor with American Corporate Partners, whose mentoring program connects post-9/11 veterans with corporate professionals for yearlong, customized mentorships, and a volunteer judge with the SIFMA Foundation’s InvestWrite, a national writing competition for students in fourth through 12th grade.  

• Judith Garczynski Fleishman ’90

  

  Fleishman, a psychologist, has researched the effects of competition and competence feedback on intrinsic motivation and quality of performance. She was an adjunct professor at Adelphi University for eight years and is a former consultant for the Westchester Institute for Human Development.

  Fleishman graduated from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology. She earned a Master of Arts and doctorate, both in psychology, from Adelphi University.

• Kenneth A. Goldblatt ’87

  

  Goldblatt is chief investment officer and portfolio manager at S Squared Technology, a hedge fund that invests in small and mid-sized technology companies. He is responsible for portfolio and risk management as well as the firm’s research process and strategic direction.

  Before joining S Squared in 1993, he was an investment banking associate at Oppenheimer & Co. from 1992 to 1993. From 1987 to 1990, after graduating from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Science in computer science (with honors), he was a software engineer at American Management Systems, an IT consulting firm.

  Goldblatt is a member of the NY Metro Advisory Board for the University's Thomas J. Watson College of Engineering and Applied Science. He is also on the Board of Friends of Ofanim, a charitable organization that supports educational enrichment in the STEM fields for children in remote areas of Israel.

  He has a Master of Business Administration in finance (with distinction) from New York University Stern School of Business.

• Abby R. Goldstein ’94

  Goldstein is a speech-language psychologist and a trustee of the Brotherhood Synagogue in New York city, where she also serves on the Hebrew School and Teen Committees.

  Goldstein's bachelor's degree from Binghamton University is in psychology.

• Donald E. Hall*

  

  Hall joined Binghamton as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs in 2022. As the University's chief academic officer, Hall administers all academic programs at Binghamton and provides leadership for undergraduate- and graduate-student recruitment and admissions, curriculum and academic program development, faculty recruitment and retention, and international programs. 

  Working with the deans, he provides overall leadership in the advancement of Binghamton's academic plan, development and strengthening of programs, and support for faculty in their contributions to the University's instructional, research and outreach missions.

  Before Binghamton, Hall was dean of the faculty of arts, sciences and engineering at the University of Rochester and held a previous position as dean of arts and sciences at Lehigh University.

• Keith L. Horn ’80

  

  Horn is the managing member of Loring Capital Advisors, an investment advisory firm he founded in 2016.

  Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of Elliott Management Corp., a global hedge fund, for 12 years. Prior to joining Elliott, Horn worked as an investment banker at Merrill Lynch for 16 years and served in various management capacities, among them, global head of leveraged finance, head of Latin America debt and chief of staff to the chair and president. He was also a managing director in high yield finance and investment banking. Before joining Merrill Lynch, Horn practiced corporate and securities law.

  Horn is a member of the Binghamton University Foundation’s investment committee and a former chair of the Binghamton University Parent Fund Committee.

  He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Binghamton University, earning a Bachelor of Arts with highest honors in both economics and political science. He has a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center and graduated cum laude.

• Alex Huppé ’69

  

  Huppé graduated with honors from Binghamton University with a bachelor's degree in English. He earned a master's degree in English from the University of Virginia, where he completed his doctoral coursework before beginning a career as a college instructor and later as a public relations executive.

  He has taught at community colleges in North Carolina and Virginia, and at Boston University and the University of Virginia. He also served as assistant dean for external programs at Boston University's College of Communication. In 1985, he was appointed principal public relations and public information officer at Dartmouth College. He joined Harvard University in 1995 as its director of public affairs. He remains active in consulting and in philanthropic activities.

  Huppé serves on Binghamton University’s Harpur College Advisory Council. His father, Distinguished Professor Bernard F. Huppé, was one of the college's founding faculty members and a leading scholar of medieval literature who helped design and champion Harpur's liberal arts curriculum.

• Michael G. Kerner ’86

  

  Kerner is president and CEO of Munich Reinsurance America.

  After earning a bachelor's degree from Binghamton University in economics, he began his career working as an actuary.

  Then at Zurich Insurance Group, he was global head of group reinsurance, global general insurance chief underwriting officer and head of group strategy.

  Among his other leadership roles at various companies, he was CEO of North American Global Corporate Business and of the Global General Insurance Business of Zurich Insurance Group.

  Kerner was recognized with the University's Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumnus(a) Award in 2022.

• Charles M. Kim ’98

  

  Kim is principal and founder of Alpine Group USVI LLC, holding company of the Alpine group of companies. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in management and finance from Binghamton University, Kim worked at Alliance Capital as a portfolio management analyst. He then moved into the field of equity trading with First New York Securities.

  In 2004, Kim started Alpine Securities Group, a trading firm in New York. In 2008, he moved the company's headquarters to St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, where he eventually founded Alpine Group as the parent holding company of the Alpine entities.

  Kim was a founding member of Junior Achievement of the Virgin Islands and is involved in numerous other community and charitable events and organizations.

• Elizabeth M. Koffman

  

  Koffman worked for a real estate development company in San Francisco for many years before moving back to the East Coast. She then worked for a sportswear company selling high-end goods to the resort market. For more than 20 years, she has been an entrepreneur, early-stage private investor, angel investor and real estate developer.

  Koffman is an active community volunteer and philanthropist. She is a board member of the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator and an advisor to the Lesbian and Gay Family Building Project. She also donates her time to the Binghamton Local Development Corp.

  She received her doctorate in 2008 from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

• Dr. Bai O. Lee

  

  Lee retired as president of Lee Health Care and senior attending gynecologist at United Health Services and Our Lady of Lourdes Memorial Hospital.

  Lee completed his post-graduate training and fellowship at New York Medical College. He was director of the Perinatal Center at United Health Services in 1972 and became a partner at the Southern Tier Ob-Gyn Group in 1975. In 2000, Lee established the Lee and Yum Foundation for charity and education.

• Mitchell J. Lieberman ’80

  

  Lieberman began his career at Goldman Sachs in 1980, in global operations. He moved to the equities division in 1992 as head of prime brokerage, and in 1997, became a managing director. He was named co-chief operating officer of Goldman’s Global Securities Services in 1999. Lieberman retired from Goldman in February 2010.

  He serves as a board member for Goldman Sachs Trust Co. and Goldman Sachs Cayman Trust. He is also on the board for The Options Clearing Corp. and is a board member of Hedge Fund Cares, a nonprofit that raises money for abused children.

  Lieberman is a member of the Binghamton University Foundation board’s investment committee and the Harpur College Advisory Board.

  He graduated from Binghamton University with bachelor's degrees in political science and biological sciences.

• Geraldine MacDonald ’68, MS ’73, LittD ’17

  

  MacDonald is an independent consultant specializing in executive management, internet startups and wireless applications, as well as litigation support for internet related tax cases and patent disputes.

  Previously, MacDonald was a senior vice president at America Online Inc., overseeing the construction and expansion of AOL’s access networks, using narrowband and broadband technologies.

  Before joining America Online, MacDonald was responsible for computing and networking at Binghamton University. She steered the transitions from mainframe computers to mini computers, work stations and personal computers. She was instrumental in the initial construction of the computer pods on campus and the smart classrooms.

  MacDonald's degrees from Binghamton include a bachelor's in psychology, master's in advanced technology and an honorary Doctor of Letters. 

  She received the Binghamton University Alumni Association’s Glenn G. Bartle Distinguished Alumni Award in 2014.

• Carolyn M. Mancini

  

  Mancini is president and owner of OGGI Concrete Forms & Accessories Inc. in Endicott, N.Y. 

  She is also president and owner of CMM Advertising Inc., a company in Endicott, N.Y., that produces message-on-hold telephone services for clients throughout the eastern United States and Canada.

  Mancini is the risk management officer for Andrew R. Mancini Associates Inc., a general construction firm in Endicott, N.Y., and serves as an Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 30-hour safety representative for the company.

  She has her bachelor’s degree in public relations from Marywood College (presently Marywood University).

• Joseph P. Mirabito

  Mirabito is executive chairman of Mirabito Holdings Inc., a wholesale and retail energy marketing and distribution company operating in eight northeastern states. The company includes a convenience store chain comprising over 100 stores across central and northern New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

  Mirabito is a past president of the Empire State Energy Association (ESEA) and a member of both the Energy Marketers Association of America (EMA) and the National Association of Convenience Stores (NACS).

  He graduated from Le Moyne College with a bachelor’s degree in business administration. He previously served on the Le Moyne College Board of Regents from 2004-07 and currently serves on the LeMoyne College Board of Trustees.

• Felicia Moreira ’01, MA ’02

  Moreira, an ex-officio member of the Foundation board, is president of the Alumni Association board.

  She is the associate director of employer engagement at the Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development.

  Her previous professional roles in the University's Residential Life, the Office of Alumni Engagement and Athletics have given her a well-rounded perspective on University operations and a broad campus network. 

• Kim Myers

  Myers was born and raised in Binghamton. She spent her childhood working in the family store, Dick’s Sporting Goods, alongside her father and siblings. Her late husband, Timothy C. Myers, was a fellow Dick’s employee and had been a member of the Binghamton University Foundation board of directors. Together, they raised six children.

  Myers is a Broome County legislator and provides community marketing for Dick’s. She founded Locker Room 345, an initiative that
  acquires and distributes footwear and clothing to the community’s most vulnerable through schools and local organizations. She also co-founded Coaching Her Future.

  Myers is a graduate of North High School and has a bachelor's degree in education from SUNY Cortland.

• Elizabeth Bloomer Nesvold ’90

  Nesvold is vice chair of Emigrant Bank and chair of Emigrant Partners. In these roles, she collaborates with affiliates providing solutions to the wealth management industry, including Emigrant Partners, New York Private Trust, Sarasota Private Trust, Cleveland Private Trust, Summitas, and Personal Risk Management Solutions. Additionally, she is a member of the Emigrant Partners’ Investment Committee, contributing to strategic investment decisions.

  With over 30 years of experience as an advisor, investment banker and entrepreneur, Nesvold specializes in mergers and acquisitions, succession and liquidity planning, strategic advisory, compensation structuring, in-depth financial and business analysis, and organic growth consulting.

• Albert Nocciolino

  

  Tony Award winner Nocciolino serves as president and CEO of NAC Entertainment Ltd., a company based and founded in Binghamton. The entertainment and theatrical company specializes in the presentation of National Touring Broadway shows in New York (Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Binghamton, Elmira, Utica, Albany) and Pennsylvania (Scranton and Erie).

  In addition to directing the Broadway subscription seasons in these cities, Nocciolino also produces and co-produces Broadway shows on Broadway and national touring shows across the country.

  Nocciolino has been a Tony Award voting member since 1982. He serves as co-chair of the Intra-Industry/Road Presenters Committee and as vice chair of the road of The Broadway League (the national trade association for the Broadway industry). He is a founding member and chair of the National Touring Theatre Council and a founding member and past president of the Independent Presenters Network (IPN).

  Nocciolino serves on numerous community boards and is president of Broome County Community Charities. He has served on the boards of the Binghamton University Council, Binghamton Summer Music Festival and Binghamton Local Development Board. 

  He earned a bachelor's degree in economics from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

• James W. Orband ’81

  Orband has been managing partner of Hinman, Howard & Kattell LLP since 1999. His practice focuses on banking, construction, corporate law and estate planning. He is admitted to practice law in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida, the District of Columbia and United States Tax Court. Orband is also a principal, director and corporate secretary of SureScan Corp., which develops explosive-detection technology, including baggage screening systems, for the homeland security marketplace.

  He is a member of the Binghamton University Council; a trustee of SUNY Broome Community College; and serves on the board of directors for numerous organizations, including Catholic Charities of Broome County Inc., the Lourdes Hospital Foundation, Spiedie Fest/Balloon Rally Inc. and Security Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York.

  He graduated magna cum laude from Binghamton University with a Bachelor of Arts in history and received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Albany Law School of Union University in 1984.

• Michelle J. Schwartz ’76

  Schwartz is principal at Michelle Schwartz & Associates, CEO at Steve and Andy’s Organics, and managing director at Golden Seeds, an investment firm dedicated to pursuing market returns through the empowerment of women entrepreneurs and the people who invest them.

  Prior, she was a principal at Gallery Squared, a contemporary Israeli art gallery featuring original works in sculpture, prints and paintings.

  She also taught courses in public policy at Santa Rosa Junior College and the University of California at Berkeley.

  Schwartz graduated from Binghamton University with a bachelor's degree in nursing. She is one of the first joint graduate degree holders in public health and public policy from University of California, Berkeley (1988).

• Harvey G. Stenger*

  

  Stenger, an ex-officio member of the Binghamton University Foundation board, has been president of Binghamton University since November 2011. He previously served as interim provost at the University at Buffalo, where he had been dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences since 2006.

  Before joining the administration at UB, Stenger was a professor at Lehigh University's College of Engineering and Applied Science, where he also served as dean for six years and served terms as co-chair of the Department of Chemical Engineering and director of the Environmental Studies Center.

  He earned his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Cornell University and his doctorate in the same discipline from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

• Michael D. Timmeny ’73, LHD ’25

  

  Timmeny retired as senior vice president and chief government strategy officer for Cisco Systems Inc. He managed a global team charged with advancing issues that support Cisco’s corporate and technology policy agenda worldwide. This included shaping policies that foster innovation and digital technologies, protecting global competitiveness, avoiding intrusive regulations, promoting broadband adoption and building trusted relationships with policymakers throughout the world.

  Timmeny also oversaw Cisco’s Country Digital Acceleration (CDA) team, which partners with federal and state governments worldwide to accelerate their national digitization agendas and deliver beneficial services to their citizens faster and more effectively.

  Prior to joining Cisco, Timmeny spent 21 years on Capitol Hill in the U.S. House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate. He served as chief of staff to five members of Congress. He also served as vice president of policy for the American Electronics Association.

• Paul R. Turovsky ’73, LHD ’12

  

  Turovsky is a founding principal of True North Management Group, a privately held real estate investment management firm founded in 2004 and headquartered in White Plains, N.Y. The firm manages more than $1.4 billion in real estate for institutional investors and is investing its third high-yield investment fund. Until the end of 2003, Turovsky was a managing director of Deutsche Bank Securities and fund manager for DB Real Estate’s Mezzanine Investment Funds.

  Turovsky chaired Bold.Brilliant.Binghamton — The Campaign for Binghamton University, which surpassed its original $95 million goal and subsequent $100 million goal to raise more than $101.2 million.

  As an undergraduate, he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history and honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Binghamton University. He also has a master’s degree (1975) and doctorate (1980), both in Latin American history, from UCLA.

• Howard D. Unger ’82, LHD ’19

  

  Unger is the founding partner of Saw Mill Capital LLC, a private equity firm that acquires manufacturing and service companies. Before founding Saw Mill in 1997, Unger was a founding partner of Chase Capital, Chase Manhattan Bank’s private equity investing group, which specialized in middle-market acquisitions, recapitalizations and growth investments.

  Prior to forming Chase Capital, Unger was a managing director in Chase’s Merchant Banking Group, providing equity as well as senior and subordinated debt to leveraged transactions. His professional career began in 1983 with the Leveraged Capital Group of Citibank, providing debt financing for leveraged transactions.

  Unger is a presidentially-appointed Council Member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and a member of the Museum’s Committee on Conscience, fighting for the prevention of modern genocide. He is also a board member of The Auschwitz-Birkenau Foundation.

  His degrees from Binghamton University include a Bachelor of Science in accounting and an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. He also earned an MBA from the University of Chicago.

  He was chair of the record-breaking EXCELERATE campaign for Binghamton, which concluded in June 2024.

• Brian J. Zakrocki ’99

  Zakrocki is a managing director and private wealth advisor at UBS. His private wealth management practice is focused on providing holistic wealth management solutions, including trust and estate planning, philanthropic giving and asset management advice to families and foundations. 

  Prior to joining UBS, he was a senior managing director with First Republic Investment Management from 2020-23.

  Zakrocki was previously a managing director at Goldman Sachs, where he spent 18 years as a top advisor and a member of the Advisor's Council. He was a certified public accountant at Arthur Andersen prior to joining Goldman Sachs in 2002.

  Zakrocki graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Binghamton University. From New York University Stern School of Business, he earned a Master of Business Administration with honors.

• Mark A. Zurack ’78, LHD ’03

  

  Zurack teaches Capital Markets and Investments and Equity Derivatives at Columbia Business School.

  Prior to joining the faculty at Columbia University, Zurack worked at Goldman Sachs for 18 years. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1983 and started the equity derivatives research group. He later assumed a broader leadership role in equity derivatives, co-managing the product in both North America and Asia and leading the effort to cross-market equity derivatives products to high net worth individuals. He became a partner in 1994 and a managing director in 1996. Between 1998 and 2001, Zurack served on the board of directors at the Chicago Board Options Exchange.

  He earned a Bachelor of Science and honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Binghamton University, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Cornell University. He also holds the chartered financial analyst (CFA) credential.
