Welcome to the Graduate School of Education

The Graduate School of Education (GSE) at Binghamton University features an outstanding faculty and staff dedicated to preparing educators who will contribute to the field as teachers, administrators, scholars, and policy makers. Our faculty work closely with students as they provide a rich and challenging educational experience.

For prospective teachers, we offer master's degree programs in Adolescence Education, Childhood Education, Literacy Education, and Special Education, all of which are approved for New York state teaching certification. For students who are pursuing certification in other areas (e.g., health, art, physical education, music) or whose interests lie within the field of education but outside of teaching, we offer a program in Educational Studies, where each student works with a faculty member to construct a program to meet her or his individual needs.

For prospective administrators, we offer a Certificate of Advanced Study (CAS) that prepares educational leaders to serve in pre-K-12 schools and school districts.

For prospective scholars, teacher leaders, and administrators, we offer a selective doctoral program in educational theory and practice in which students focus on school reform and democratic leadership, reflective professional practice, inclusive and multicultural education, and social analysis.

Please feel free to contact us to learn more about the School and the opportunities we offer. We hope you will join our talented, diverse, and committed students in pursuing an educational program that makes a positive difference in the lives of others.
