We hope you will take a few moments to read about what the Council has been up to, hear about our pre-law students and the next generation of legal professionals and learn how you can become involved.

Formed in 1995, the Harpur Law Council seeks to establish an effective network of University law alumni, mentor students and alumni interested in law careers, provide guidance and advice to Harpur College on academic issues and programs relevant to the legal profession and increase financial support for special projects that include public interest law internships, support for the mock trial team and other mentoring and development programs. Public interest law internship program

Harpur students take part in 'unique' law internship

Taking part in the Harpur Law Council Public Interest Law Internship was a life-changing experience for Susan Dolcemascolo '13 (pictured above with Paul Babchik, Assistant Counsel for the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor). "It's an opportunity that I don't think I would've had anywhere else," Dolcemascolo said. "I'm grateful that there are programs like this. That will always make Binghamton University special to me." | Read the full story

Congratulations to 2013 intern Jessica Loredo

Jessica Loredo graduated from Harpur College in May and interned at the Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor this past summer. In July, Jessica accepted an offer as a Trial Preparation Assistant in the Rackets Bureau of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office.

"Since 2009, I have supervised many interns but Jessica is one of the best of the best. Although not yet in law school, she conducted research that was superior to that of law students and many attorneys. Because of her impressive work, Jessica won the admiration of the Waterfront Commission's Law and Licensing Divisions. We encouraged her to use her experience at the Waterfront Commission to apply for employment as a Trial Preparation Assistant in the Rackets Bureau of the Manhattan DA's Office. Jessica got the job - we expect her to work on many important criminal investigations in New York City."

-Paul E. Babchik, Assistant Counsel, Waterfront Commission of New York Harbor
