Paul Taylor Dance Company highlights Anderson Center’s 2011-12 season

The Anderson Center’s 2011-12 season will include performances at the indoor/outdoor amphitheater by acts ranging from the the National Acrobats of The People’s Republic of China to the Paul Taylor Dance Company.
The Anderson Center’s subscription series opens on Oct. 26, with a lavish production of Gypsy Fire by Compañia Flamenca Jose Porcel. Experience an explosion of Spanish rhythms, colors and emotions from these Spanish dancers and musicians.
The National Acrobats of The People’s Republic of China, as part of its inaugural tour of the United States and Canada, will perform on Nov. 21.
The internationally acclaimed “Tschaikowski” St. Petersburg State Orchestra brings its program to the stage on Feb. 14, 2012. Among the evening’s selections will be Mahler’s majestic Symphony No. 5 and Chopin’s Concerto No. 2, plus Wagner’s Siegfried’s Rhine Journey, Siegfried’s Death and Funeral March.
The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to the Anderson Center on March 10, accompanied again by the Binghamton University Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Timothy Perry. The program will consist of works choreographed by one of the world’s most recognized creative geniuses.
The final performance in the subscription series is a production of Swan Lake by the Russian National Ballet Theatre, a company of more than 50 dancers under the artistic direction of the legendary Bolshoi principal dancer Elena Radchenko. This perennial favorite will be performed on April 23.
With its recent acceptance into the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation’s Jazz Touring Network, the Anderson Center will also bring a concert teaming saxophonists Grace Kelly (with her quintet) and Phil Woods on June 7, 2012.
