Men’s soccer advances to America East final

Logan Roberts scores in the 80th minute, leading Binghamton (10-7-2) to a 1-0 victory at Albany (10-8-1) in the an America East semifinal game on Nov. 11 at Casey Stadium. With the victory, the Bearcats advance to their first conference championship game since 2008. They will travel to Vermont on Sunday, Nov. 15. Kickoff is scheduled for noon.
Robert’s goal was set up by freshman midfielder Harrison Weilbacher, who took a free kick. The ball was played back by senior midfielder Tucker Sandercock to Roberts, who was stationed in front of the net. Roberts then fired it into the net for his third goal of the season.
“Harry and Tucker set me up great,” Roberts said. “This is a big win for us and we are looking forward to playing on Sunday.”
“Albany is a great time and it took a great goal to beat them,” head coach Paul Marco said. “Our team continues to grow and tonight was another big step for us. We put a lot of preparation and energy into this match.”
Albany finished with an 18-11 shot advantage but junior goalkeeper Robert Moewes finished with seven saves to record his sixth solo shutout of the season
Vermont beat UMBC 2-1 in overtime in the other semifinal game.
