The Science Library houses research materials in the fields of Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Engineering/Technology, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Nursing, Psychology, and Physics. The collections include books, journals, newspapers, maps, reference materials,
and oversized materials.
The extensive Map Collection is located on the ground floor of the Science Library in Room G-02. The collections
include topographic and thematic maps, charts, atlases, soil surveys, geological publications,
globes, gazetteers, and other cartographic reference materials. The Map Room provides
table space for individuals and groups to consult maps and atlases. It is also equipped
with a light table and a drafting table. A computer is available to access the BU
Libraries catalog and databases. Maps and atlases may be borrowed.
The Science Library Reference Collection, located on the first floor, contains fact
books, manuals, standards, encyclopedias, dictionaries, writing guides and more. These
materials are helpful for background research and to provide supporting information.

Science Library Reader Services Desk
Students, Staff and Faculty are encouraged to make the Science Library Reader Services
Desk their first stop when making enquiries about resources and services offered by
the library. The Science Library Reader Services Desk is located on the first floor
of the Science Library. You can contact the Science Library Reader Services Desk
Research and Reference Help
Research Assistance Services provide help in identifying and accessing an extensive
range of print and electronic resources for teaching, learning and research. Research
assistance is provided in-person, by telephone or virtually. The Research Help (Reference
Desk) is located in Bartle Library on the first floor in the Information Commons.

Print, Copy and Scan
Study space is available throughout the Science Library. Designated quiet study space
is located in individual study carrels on all floors. There are 3 group study rooms
available – one on the first floor and two on the ground floor. The rooms are available
on a first-come, first-served basis.
SCIENCE LIBRARY STAFF
Science Library staff and student workers provide circulation and general information
services for BU faculty, students and staff. Staff are responsible for opening and
closing the Science Library and overseeing library facility maintenance.
