Binghamton University offers MWBE and Small Business Contractor Readiness Bond Training Program
BINGHAMTON, NY -- The Binghamton University Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will offer a minority and women-owned business enterprise (MWBE) and small business training program at 222 Water St. in downtown Binghamton.
Classes will be held from 4-8 p.m. for six Tuesdays, including Feb. 24, March 3, March 10, March 17, March 24 and April 7. Participants will obtain training, technical assistance and credit support to secure surety bonds necessary for state contracts. Businesses that have never bonded or that have required increased bonding capacity will benefit from this training program. Attendance is required at all sessions to be eligible for a program certificate.
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s Administration has dramatically increased its goal for minority-and-women-owned enterprises (MWBE) state contracting utilization to 30 percent which means that state agencies are required to spend 30% of their dollars with businesses that have been certified by New York State as Minority and Woman Owned.
Program topics include construction bonding, bidding and estimating, construction accounting, credit strategies, banking and financing, and claims and dispute resolutions.
