Binghamton University invites alumni and local community to Homecoming events
Homecoming 2015 will take place at Binghamton University from Friday through Sunday, Oct. 9-11. The event will be the largest on-campus alumni pride celebration of the year, and an occasion for the University and local communities to come together.
The main event of Homecoming 2015 will be the Grand Opening of the Alumni Center in Old O’Connor Hall. This ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. All alumni and friends are welcome to attend.
TIER Talks, presented by M&T Bank, is a speaker event offered by the Alumni Association that leverages the brilliance of Binghamton’s alumni and faculty to provide new perspectives on hot topics. The session "Making Waves: Mind-Blowing Breakthroughs in Neuroscience" will present some of the latest research and techniques that protect, strengthen and take charge of the brain. Visitors will also learn how neuroscientists have developed a 100-percent accurate method of identifying individuals on the basis of their unique brain activity by entering the world of Brainprint. TIER Talks will be held at 2:15 p.m. Saturday in Watters Theater.
At 3 p.m. Saturday, hundreds of alumni and students will gather in the Events Center Parking Lot for Tailgate ’15, a spirit-filled party that precedes the men’s soccer game against the University of Massachusetts-Lowell at the Bearcats Sports Complex. The Boston-based rock/pop/electronic band Magic Man will perform on the concert stage at the tailgate party.
On 10 a.m. Sunday, all runners and walkers in the community are invited to participate in the Homecoming 5K run/walk. The course loops around the center of campus and proceeds uphill toward the Nature Preserve, giving runners and walkers marvelous views of the area’s fall colors.
