Congressman Hakeem Jeffries to speak at Binghamton University Homecoming
BINGHAMTON, NY – In honor of the 20th anniversary of the Master of Public Administration program at Binghamton University, Congressman Hakeem Jeffries '92 has been invited to speak at a College of Community and Public Affairs (CCPA) sponsored event during Homecoming 2015 weekend. Jeffries will deliver his remarks at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, in the atrium at the Binghamton University Downtown Center, 67 Washington St., Binghamton. The event is free and open to the public.
Students, faculty, staff, and members of the public are encouraged to join CCPA students and alumni to hear the congressman discuss his experience in government and politics. He is expected to advise those seeking a career in public service and reflect upon the role professional education can play in preparing for a career in government and public service.
Jeffries is the first Binghamton University graduate to serve in Congress. He is currently in his second term, where he represents New York's 8th Congressional District, which encompasses large parts of Brooklyn and a section of Queens. Recently, major news outlets, including The New York Times, have mentioned the Congressman’s name as a possible contender for New York City Mayor in 2017.
