Triathlon to challenge local athletes


BINGHAMTON, NY – Students and community members are invited to swim, bike, and run in the Sprint Triathlon 2010 on Sunday, April 25. The race will begin at Binghamton University’s East Gym at starting 9 a.m., with competitors divided into appropriate skill levels.


The triathlon comprises of a 400 yard swim, a 10.2 mile bike ride, and a 5K run. Registration is open to 100 participants and must be postmarked by April 19. The race will cost $20 for students, $40 for community members and $60 for teams of three.


Registration fees will include a T-shirt and refreshments, and all proceeds will go Binghamton University’s Eating Awareness Committee.  Prizes will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, as well as to first place in each age category.  Race photos and results will be posted online.


The event is sponsored by Binghamton University Campus Recreation, the Eating Awareness Committee, the Health & Wellness Studies Department, Sodexo Dining Services, and the Embroidery Screen Printing Network.
