Music Scholarships

The Music Department awards various undergraduate scholarships each year, usually in amounts ranging from $800 to $1500. Some scholarships are designated for students in particular areas, academic years, or majors, but all music students (majors, minors, and non-majors) are encouraged to apply: you will be considered for all scholarships for which you are eligible. NOTE: If you currently hold a renewable scholarship you are still required to submit an application to confirm your continuing eligibility.

Scholarships available for the 2016-2017 year:

Betty & Harry Lincoln Music Scholarship (for excellence in music history; awarded to a junior)

Glenn Gardner/Slam Stewart Memorial Scholarship

John M. and Marcella M. Keeler Scholarships in Music (preferred students in voice/conducting)

Link Organ Scholarship

Neilsen Music Scholarships (for academic merit and/or exceptional ability in performance)

Neilsen Scholarship in Honor of Professor Mary Burgess (for performance in voice)

Professor Janet Brady Memorial Scholarship (for string students)

Samuel Reiser Scholarship (preference for students in piano or composition)

If you are interested in applying, fill out the application form and return it to the Music Office by Friday, March 3, 2017 by 4:00 p.m. (you can drop it off in person, fax it to (607) 777-4425 or mail it to the Music Department, Binghamton University, PO Box 6000, Binghamton, NY 13902).

Under-Represented Minority Fellowships

Binghamton University has provided graduate fellowships for outstanding minority students from groups historically under represented in the University's graduate and professional programs. Candidates for the fellowships must be U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status; be a Native American, African American, or Hispanic American; and be newly admitted to a graduate program for the fall semester.

The Office of External Scholarships and Fellowships

The Office of External Scholarships and Fellowships invites students to check out its new website. The site contains information for undergraduates on scholarships, funded summer experiences (i.e. research opportunities and positions with nonprofit groups), and post graduation opportunities.
