About the Voice and Opera Studies Program (Vocal Performance)

Vocal performance at Binghamton University is a small, selective program designed to train students in their pursuit of a career in professional classical singing and opera. Our program affords students a wide array of performance and scholarly activities. Binghamton University enjoys a unique collaboration with the with Tri-Cities Opera, providing auditioned and selected students with professional stage experience. Both Undergraduate and masters students have the opportunity to perform with Tri-Cities Opera each season in three mainstage productions.

In addition to Voice Lessons and Coachings at Binghamton University students participate in the Stage Techniques/Opera workshop, (presenting one-act operas and opera scenes), performance ensembles, recital programs, studio voice class, lyric diction, language studies, vocal literature & interpretation, oratorio performances, voice master classes, music history
and music theory.

The excellence of this unique program is validated by the achievements of its graduates, who have performed in virtually every major opera house in the world, including: The Metropolitan Opera, New York City Opera, Houston Grand Opera, The Lyric Opera of Chicago, San Francisco Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala, Washington Opera, and many more internationally and abroad. Our students have the opportunity to perform in the Anderson Center for the Performing Arts at Binghamton University, which houses two outstanding theaters often used by some of the finest professional artists in the country.
