INSIDE BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
It’s time to request teaching surveys
Faculty members may request SOOT Surveys for spring 2006 courses by visiting http://blackboard.binghamton.edu.
Once at the site, follow these simple steps:
1) Enter your username and password. Your username is your Binghamton University e-mail address excluding the “@binghamton.edu” portion and your password is your normal Blackboard password. If you have never logged into Blackboard, your initial password is the first two letters of your last name and the last four digits of your social security number.
2) From the list of Tools on the left side of the page, click on SOOT Surveys.
3) Click on the courses you want surveyed and hit Submit.
Once the steps have been completed, the survey will become available for students enrolled in your course and they will use Blackboard to respond to the survey during the surveying period from April 25 through May 12.
If you have enrolled anyone in your Blackboard course and given that person the role of “Instructor,” they will also be able to request a SOOT survey.
To maximize the number of survey responses, you are encouraged to give your students several reminders. You may also wish to remind them that the survey is anonymous and faculty members see only aggregated results after they have submitted final course grades.
If the course instructor is listed as “Staff” in the BUSI system, he or she will not be able to request a SOOT survey. The instructor’s department will need to contact the Registrar’s Office to update the BUSI system information.
To request paper surveys, visit https://spider.adm. binghamton.edu:6128/soot between March 28 and April 28.
You will need your Social Security Number for this secure site.
Once you have requested your forms, print the confirmation and instruction sheet for use when administering the SOOT. Your forms will be delivered within three to four working days.
It will take about six weeks to receive results if you choose the paper method.
