Fulbright Summer Student Institute
sponsored by the
German American Fulbright Commission
Binghamton University

The Fulbright summer program for German students will take place from July 24, 2013 to August 16, 2013 on the Binghamton University campus. This program will give students an opportunity to experience directly and learn about American culture and American university education, and to improve their English communication skills in an American university classroom setting and beyond. Our goal is to give students preparation that will enable them to be exchange students or graduate students in the future in an American university as well as to prepare students for professional interactions in a United States context.

The Research Foundation of the State University of New York at Binghamton University on behalf of Binghamton University shall carry out this program in accordance with its program outline and draft budget submitted in January 2013, and any revisions to which both parties agree to in writing.

Students will stay in the Mohawk Residence Hall on campus in six bedroom suites shared with other students on the program. Meals will be provided on campus by the Sodexho Corp. University courses will not be in session during the program, but there will be opportunities to interact with American and international students (some will be finishing the summer school session, or will be athletes arriving to campus early for team practices) around campus and in the residence halls.

Students will be able to explore the 887 acres on which the campus is located, including the 190-acre Nature Preserve, which consists of trails that wind through a protected forest and a six-acre pond. Students will also receive a tour of the new Innovative Technologies Complex (ITC) on campus, which houses state-of-the-art laboratories for biomedicine, bioengineering, biosensors and biotechnology research.
