Parents  Leadership Council

Mission

The Parents Leadership Council was created to offer parents an opportunity to enrich the Binghamton student experience. The Binghamton Parents Leadership Council is designed to serve as the link between Binghamton University and parents of our undergraduate students. The PLC aims to broaden and deepen the University's relationships with parents so they are lasting and mutually beneficial. PLC complements and supports the University's strategic directives and initiatives. Committee members are advancement advocates for the Division of Student Affairs through private support and outreach. This is an advisory council whose mission is to enhance student opportunities.

Goals & Objectives:

Our goal is to create activities & experiences designed to inform, involve and engage parents.  Goals & objectives include:

  • Create strategic programming and initiatives to support parent engagement and student opportunities while at Binghamton University
  • Assist Binghamton University staff in providing a positive experience that enhances involvement and participation for parents and family members of undergraduate students.
  • Educate parents and campus community on goals of the Binghamton Fund for Student Life, which enriches student educational and co-curricular experience
  • Increase annual financial support provided by parents

Council Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be an advocate for Binghamton University and serve as a resource for families in your geographic region
  • Choose one project as a Council,  based on Student Affairs priorities, that Binghamton Fund for Student Life dollars will directly go towards 
  • Participate in quarterly phone conference & attend annual on-campus Presidential reception and meeting during the Spring semester
  • Make your own leadership gift of $1,000 to the Binghamton Fund account of your choice
