Twitter Expands Prohibited Content To Include Violent Threats

To limit the amount of harmful or offensive content on its feed, Twitter has broadened its definition of prohibited content. Twitter has given its team the authority to lock abusive accounts for certain periods of time. to prevent users from promoting violence or threats against others.

The abuse of social media to threaten, use private pictures as revenge, and acting out the most angry and aggressive parts of ourselves continues as a problem. The combination of the mask of anonymity and First Amendment rights leaves personal choice and editorial judgement as the best choices to remedy this issue. The draw of immediate thought to statement to send is a sometimes scary magnetism that should be resisted.
