This project is designed to determine whether alternatives to our current approaches to scheduling classes and organizing the academic calendar might enhance student success and better serve the needs of academic programs. Meetings have been held to determine project scope, brainstorm ideas and develop strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of changing the existing structure. Each dean nominated a representative for his/her school/college to a team that will begin meeting next semester with a goal of a final report by the end of the semester. The Course Building and Academic Space Management (CBASM) office is hiring a research analyst to research best practices and evaluate impacts. CBASM has developed a draft set of new standard course meeting times and held an initial review with representatives from Harpur science departments.
