SP3.1: Develop Organizational Structure to Support Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The launch of the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ODEI), formerly the Affirmative Action Office, established a framework to bring forth a campus climate that firmly supports diversity, equity and inclusiveness. Valerie Hampton, formerly the affirmative action officer, was named the chief diversity officer. As the structure to support diversity, equity and inclusiveness continues to take shape, a part-time diversity specialist has been hired. Goals of the new office include distributing a campus climate survey to faculty, staff and students to assess how various constituent groups are feeling, as well as unifying efforts to celebrate diversity, equity and inclusion under one office by transferring the Multicultural Resource Center into its family.

Goals advanced under this project:

  2. Enhance diversity of the faculty, staff, and administration of the university.
  3. Provide support services to all students, faculty, and staff with special needs.
  4. Elevate the culture of diversity and inclusiveness in the campus community.
