First study-abroad reception

For the first time, a reception was held to gather the five study-abroad scholarship programs for a single event to recognize the donors (and donor representatives) and bring together the donors with their scholarship recipients.

The five scholarships are the Dr. Israel J. Rosefsky Language and Culture Scholarship, Evelio Figueroa Memorial Study Abroad Scholarship, Marjorie B. Turnbull Spanish Language & Culture Scholarship, Myers Family Study Abroad Scholarship and the Reeves-Ellington International Studies Scholarship.

President Harvey Stenger, Binghamton University Foundation Board Chair Steven Bloom ’78, LHD ’10, and Vice Provost for International Affairs Katharine Krebs spoke about the impact of the support provided by the scholarship donors and the importance of the study-abroad experience as a way to better the campus and world. Speakers also asked the scholarship recipients to encourage other students to participate in the study-abroad programs.
