20:1 ROTC a national first

The 20:1 Sexual Assault Prevention Program has launched a new initiative partnering with the ROTC military organizations at Binghamton University and Cornell University.  This sexual assault prevention program will be piloted in fall of 2013 in conjunction with the existing 20:1 program. This innovative idea derived from interactions and consultations with the United States Department of Defense Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Office (DoD SAPRO) in April. For the first time in 20:1’s history, a ROTC cadet will be a 20:1 intern during the 2013-14 academic year. Also, 20:1 will be presenting at the ROTC class at Cornell attended by both Binghamton and Cornell cadets.

According to the DoD SAPRO, Binghamton University will be the first institution of higher learning to create and implement a sexual assault prevention program for ROTC cadets, maintaining the 20:1 Sexual Assault Prevention Program as a best practice model.
