Educational Programs for Families

Pride and Joy Families hosts educational programming that provides families within our network and within the greater upstate New York community with access to information and support with which to live healthy, happy lives.
The topics of our educational programs range widely and are often attuned to current needs within the community. In the last two years, we have held a number of panels on the Defense of Marriage Act and then, subsequently, on the changes incurred by its Section 9 repeal. We have held numerous legal and financial planning programs where local financial planners form a panel and provide paperwork and guidance on relevant issues. We partner with adoption and foster care professionals to create events focusing on family-building. We try to assess what the needs of LGBTQ families are today, and then build programming that meets those needs.
At Pride and Joy Families, we see ourselves and our programs as resources for the families we serve -- you are why we're here! Because of that, we are always glad to take suggestions, ideas, etc. for upcoming programs. We want the work we do to be relevant to you -- so be sure to let us know what works, what doesn't, what you'd like to see, what you've liked in the past. We look forward to hearing from you!
