Joann manages the department's recruitment efforts and oversees its internship program. She is active in NASPAA's Career Professionals committee and enjoys working with colleagues in identifying placements for MPA students.

Prior to joining the department in 2010, Joann was a Research Assistant in the Center for Applied Community Research and Development and the Center for Local Government at Binghamton where she worked with regional nonprofit and government agencies on research, training, and evaluations . She has more than 15 years of experience in nonprofit organizations, specifically history museums, as an administrator and consultant.

Joann has served on the boards of the Preservation Association of the Southern Tier, the Owego Rotary Club, and the Upstate History Alliance, and is currently serving on the board of the Family and Children's Society of Binghamton. When she isn't in the office, she is busy researching random local history projects.
