Below you will find a list of available resources that have offered their services as mentors for both students, as well as start-up companies at no-charge. You are welcome to contact them directly, or you may work through our office to determine which may be the best fit for your particular needs.

 

The Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation Partnerships

The Office of Entrepreneurship & Innovation Partnerships serves as the umbrella for promoting entrepreneurial activities amongst students, faculty, alumni, and administrators at Binghamton University, as well as outside industry. Our goal is to build a community both within and beyond the university that thrives on an immersive entrepreneurial experience.

Our mission is to cultivate and promote an environment of entrepreneurship and develop successful entrepreneurs who have the desire to grow a business, harness new technologies, and identify and seize opportunities within the marketplace.

The Southern Tier Hot Spot Innovation Zone

Binghamton University is one of three incubators that is part of the Southern Tier Hot Spot Innovation Zone. Members of the Binghamton University Start-Up Suite will have access to not only all of the benefits of the facility itself, but also guidance and mentorship from business veterans who can help them to strategize over the long term.

Ken Rother, Hot Spot Mentor and Presentation Coordinator
Ken is an Entrepreneur in Residence with the Souther Tier Innovation Hot Spot. He is a proven entrepreneur who has built and exited two successful tech/media start-ups, Mountain Lake and Treehugger, after which he served as SVP of Digital Platform Strategy of Discovery Communications.

Tony teaches courses in Entrepreneurship, Business and Marketing at Binghamton University, and has extensive experience in branding, and marketing.

Small Business Development Center

The Small Business Development Center's goal is to assist entrepreneurs, business and industry in the solution of their problems, which leads to increased profitability for the entrepreneur and increased investment and job creation for the community. By assisting new and exising small business firms, the SBDC contributes to the stability and growth of the small business dextor of the economy in New York State.

Greater Binghamton SCORE

Greater Binghamton, SCORE provides free and confidential business counseling tailored to meet the needs of your small business and your personal objectives.. They also offer workshops, for a modest fee, for both start up entrepreneurs and in-business small business owners.

SCORE volunteers are real-world professionals with time-tested knowledge who donate thousands of hours to help small businesses succeed. Counselors are experts in such areas as accounting, engineering, finance, marketing, management and business plan preparation.

Launch NY

Launch NY is a non-profit venture development organization with a mission to create jobs by providing guidance, mentoring and investments to help emerging companies succeed within the 27 counties of Upstate NY.
