Mountainview Collegiate Professor
Kevin N. Wright
Kevin N. Wright joined the Mountainview staff during summer 2011 as Collegiate Professor. Wright has taught at Binghamton University for more than 30 years, is a Professor in the Department of Human Development and is the Director of the Past to Future Project. He is the author of four books and more than 60 scholarly articles and chapters.
Wright’s area of specialty is criminology. Early in his career, he conducted research in prisons but more recently has focused his attention on preventing children and youth from engaging in problematic behaviors—committing crimes; using drugs, tobacco and alcohol; becoming teenage parents; misbehaving in schools; and failing and dropping out of school. Along with other community leaders, he was instrumental in starting the Broome County Gang Prevention Program. Wright has also helped to develop and implement programs in the Binghamton, and other, communities to improve parenting skills and behaviors. In addition, he has conducted research on mentoring programs. Lastly, Wright frequently works with school districts and community agencies to assess and plan for quality improvement of services for children and their families.
Wright is also an avid skier and cyclist.
