Health & Wellness

If your student needs to miss classes due to illness:

Medical Withdrawal: If your student needs to withdraw from school for any length of time due to a medical or mental health reason, please contact the Dean of Students Office at 607-777-2804.

Short Leaves:  At times students will need to miss classes due to short term illnesses or family emergencies.  The Faculty Master in the area your student lives can notify professors and other appropriate people of a student's absence due to injury or illness.  This letter does not act as an official excuse but is done as a courtesy for the student.  We highly recommend that the student contact professors personally to coordinate making up any missed assignments or exams.

If the injury or illness require the student to miss a significant number of classes, medical withdrawal or cancellation of registration may be necessary. The Dean of Student's office will facilitate the process.

If your student is sick while at Binghamton:

Binghamton University's Decker Student Health Services Center: provides currently registered BU students with primary care of acute illness and injury, health education, women's health services (including birth control), sports and travel medicine, immunizations, HIV testing, psychiatric consultation and laboratory services.  All Binghamton University students are eligible to visit the Decker Student Health Services Center.  All services are confidential.
