NEH Summer Seminar for School Teachers

As I see it, and as experience has shown me, the seminar encompasses theoretically, and brings into play in active discussion, all aspects of reading practice. It has been my great pleasure to see how this text has changed habits of reading in the several groups of NEH Summer Scholars with whom I've enjoyed reading it. In their communications to me they invariably emphasize how it has reinvigorated them intellectually and inspired them with the desire to find some way of communicating this enthusiasm to their students by looking for ways to integrate Don Quixote in their teaching. In fact, several "seminarians" have decided to pursue their studies in literature on the basis of the skills and new knowledge garnered during the seminar.
