SSIE Ambassador Program

Get Connected, Stay Connected

During the past several years, the Department has taken an informal approach to connecting newly admitted students with current students soon after being accepted into the graduate program and into the first week of the semester to make the transition to graduate school and Binghamton University a smooth one. This program was formalized in Fall 2013 and continues to assist incoming students.

Below is some information for each of the ambassadors. As a newly admitted graduate student, you can expect to receive an initial email from the Student Ambassadors shortly after being accepted into the program.

The Ambassadors are excited about sharing information with you about their research, the Program, the Department, Binghamton University and the surrounding areas. Hopefully, you are as excited as the Ambassadors to connect with them to learn as much about their experiences as possible.

I believe I can provide a prospective student an overview of the research work that he/ she will work on. I can help with the necessary actions to be taken before the admission so that prospective students are well prepared beforehand. I can also help a student with their course selection according to their research area.

I am about to start my 2nd year in ISE masters program at the SSIE department. I am also an international student who had to become familiar with the admission process, as well as other perspectives of becoming a student at BU. This includes finding housing, knowing how to get around using transportation, courses, and others. Having been a newly admitted student just last year, I would be happy to help new students.
