Using the Libraries

• Borrowing and Lending Borrow, renew, and return materials housed in all library locations.
• Course Reserves Textbooks and other course materials that instructors make accessible for students to share.
• Interlibrary Loan Materials not owned by Binghamton University Libraries may be obtained from other libraries.
• Library Account View, manage, and renew borrowed or requested materials.
• Ask a Librarian Librarians provide assistance in locating materials on a topic.
• Accessibility Services The Libraries are committed to provide excellent service for people of all abilities and backgrounds.

Using Our Spaces

• Reservations Reserve a group study room in Bartle, Science, or the UDC.
• Study Spaces Find a quiet study space e.g., North Reading Room and the Graduate Study Commons.
• Information Commons An active, technology-enhanced research environment that provides a range of collaborative and individual study spaces.

Research and Instructional Support

• Instruction Librarians work with faculty and program directors to support the teaching mission of the University.
• Digital Scholarship Services include assistance with pedagogical digital projects, working with data, digital publishing, and more.
• Scholarly Communications Services include assistance with data management plans, copyright, and the University’s Open Access Policy.
• Open Repositories and Digital Preservation Services include assistance with archiving and sharing scholarly materials in the ORB or the Libraries’ digital preservation system.
• Open Educational Resources (OERs) Services include assistance with creating, locating, and using OERs.
• Information Literacy This guide is a collection of approaches instructors can use to incorporate information literacy skills into assignments and courses.
• Best Practices and Guidelines for Conducting Oral Histories The Libraries partner with faculty and students to support the creation and sharing of oral history interviews.
