Honors Program
Majors in the Department of Asian and Asian American Studies seeking deeper engagement in their studies may consider applying to the Honors Program in Asian and Asian American Studies.
To be eligible, a student must possess at least a 3.5 GPA for DAAAS courses (excluding
any courses taken Pass/Fail) and be recommended by a DAAAS or DAAAS-affiliated faculty
advisor who approves the student’s Honors Thesis topic and will take responsibility
for directing it. If accepted, the student will submit to the department a 10,000-15,000
word Honors Thesis. Positive evaluation of the thesis by the advisor and an appropriate
reader results in Honors. Students may register for AAAS 498/499 (Honors Thesis I
& II) and may count one of them toward the major.
