William Butler earned his Associates of Science in Engineering Science from Broome Community College, a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University and a Masters of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Binghamton University. As a graduate student at Binghamton University he performed research in vibrations of populated printed circuit boards under Dr. James Pitarresi and then worked under Dr. Ronald Miles in development of a biologically inspired microphone where he performed inspection and measured performance. He joined Small Scale Systems Integration and Packaging in 2007 and is Research Engineer at the Analytical and Diagnostics Laboratory at Binghamton University. The tools that he operates in the ADL include thermal tools, optical microscopes and optical profilometry, sample grinding, polishing in preparation for microscopy. Mr. Butler also trains users on the use of these tools. He also provides IT support to keep the computers running and manages the FOM system.
