Binghamton is a test-optional university (SAT/ACT scores not required)
Binghamton supports SUNY's decision to suspend SAT/ACT standardized testing requirements. For more details, review our Test-Optional FAQ page.
First-year students
If you would like to include ACT or SAT scores with your application, there are two ways that you can provide scores.
- Send scores directly from the testing organization to Binghamton University.
- Self-report and confirm scores using the SAT/ACT Info tab on your status checker. You can self-report multiple scores. Note: Athletes, international students and students living outside of the U.S. who wish to submit SAT/ACT scores must send official scores directly from the testing organization.
If you self-reported scores and then enroll at Binghamton, you must submit official scores from the testing organization by May 15.
Submitting false or inaccurate information will result in offers of admission being rescinded.
Binghamton’s codes:
- SAT test: Our SAT code is 2535. Contact College Board for more information
- ACT: Our ACT code is 2956. Contact ACT for more information.
Essay/writing sections
Binghamton does not require the:
- ACT writing section
- SAT essay section
Which test scores will be used?
For students wishing to submit scores, Binghamton will combine the highest section scores from multiple administrations of the SAT and from multiple administrations of the ACT. Binghamton will not combine scores from the SAT and ACT. Note: Students who self-report can submit multiple test dates; do not self-report a superscore.
SAT subject tests
Binghamton does not require you to submit any SAT subject tests.
International first-year students
Standardized test scores
All international students (who are not native English speakers) are required to submit at
least one test score that demonstrates English proficiency. This is true even for students who attend a school where English is the language of
instruction and for students who choose to be SAT/ACT test-optional. All test scores must be less than 2 years old. See what test Binghamton accepts >
Students admitted to Binghamton with an English proficiency equivalent to TOEFL 75-82
may be required to attend an English Language Program prior to the beginning of the
semester.
Transfer students
Students who have completed fewer than 24 semester credits or 36 quarter credits since high school graduation are given the option to submit ACT/SAT scores. If you choose to submit scores, you must have them sent directly from the testing organization.
