Iron Pour

Binghamton University's sculpture program hosts the sixth annual Invitational Iron Pour in the sculpture studios in the Fine Arts Building on campus. Sculpture students and faculty from 10 college and university programs including Alfred, Cornell, Cortland, Keystone, Maryland, Ramapo, RIT, Skidmore, Syracuse and Salem Art Works attended. Over 100 molds were poured using Binghamton's two furnaces as well as three others brought in by the invited programs. The process involves pouring white-hot iron, raised to temperatures of more than 2,700 degrees, into special molds to create sculptures. Sponsored by the Rosefsky Memorial Visiting Artist Endowment, the Harpur College Dean's Office, the University Provost's Office, Sodexo Campus Services, Ben Weitsman and Sons, Tonawanda Coke Company and the Dim Spark SFB fund.
