Drumming for unity and justice

Internationally acclaimed African peace drummer and dancer Nana Anim of the Wassa Pan Afrika Ensemble teaches a small group of first-year students living in Dickinson Community how to drum and make a rhythm-based creation, building on the fundamental themes from the Common Read experience to build connections to other students and to the intellectual life of the University. First-year students read “Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption” by Bryan Stevenson and watched the documentary "13th" by filmmaker Ava DuVernay as part of the University's first-ever Common Read project.
