Background
Mariah Donohue studies how gut microbiomes impact the ecology and evolution of animal hosts. She is especially interested in understanding:
- How co-diversification shapes host ecological niche
- How microbiomes mediate antagonistic plant-herbivore interactions, and
- The role of microbiome divergence in host speciation.
She examines these questions using wild lemurs in Madagascar and frogs in the northeastern United States.
