If you are anything like me, you enjoy the cooler weather, pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking and the changing leaves during the fall. What better way to enhance your experience than attending local festivities to fully get ready for the season! Whether you appreciate art, music, athletics or just the overall atmosphere of fall, you will find something to enjoy in Binghamton. Take advantage of our prime location and check out these exciting upcoming events!

Show your #BingPride during Homecoming Weekend

Homecoming Weekend kicks off Friday, Oct. 7 and ends Sunday, Oct. 9, with so many fun activities for alumni and current students. You may find yourself cheering for the Binghamton men’s soccer team, enjoying food and music during the Binghamton Block Party or even watching fireworks with your buddies. Go Bearcats!

Satisfy your taste buds during Fall Restaurant Week

This is the perfect opportunity for those of you who have been dying to check out some of Binghamton’s amazing restaurants and are worried about affordability. Restaurant Week features special menus with discounted prices for lunch and dinner. It begins Tuesday, Sept. 13 and will surely be a hit for many Binghamton students and residents.

Cheer for the Binghamton Black Bears

Feeling like letting out your stress from classes? Yelling at the top of your lungs at a Binghamton Black Bears hockey game may be the best solution for you! Grab some friends and take a much-needed break at their first home game on Oct. 4 at Visions Memorial Arena.

Participate in the Spooky Sprint Walk and Run 5k

For runners and walkers alike, this is an event you won’t want to miss! Get some quality exercise while supporting a local food bank. The race begins at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 22 at Otsiningo Park. Registration includes a T-shirt. Who doesn’t love a T-shirt?

Pick some delicious apples

You can’t have autumn without apple picking, especially in Binghamton. Chomp on this nutritious fruit or make an apple pie and keep the doctor away by visiting Apple Hills (open Friday through Sunday) and/or Russell Farms (open seven days a week).

Listen in on "A Conversation with Questlove"

Hear from one of the biggest icons in hip-hop when Questlove comes to campus on Oct. 16 as a distinguished speaker. Questlove is the drummer and joint frontman (with Black Thought) for the hip-hop band the Roots, who have been serving as the in-house band for The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon since 2014. “A Conversation with Questlove” will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, in Osterhout Theater. Tickets are now on sale at the Anderson Center Box Office and online.

Solve the MAiZE at Stoughton Farm

If you and some friends want to put your brains to the test, head on down to Stoughton Farm in Newark Valley and complete the MAiZE. The 8-acre attraction opens Sept. 17 and closes on Halloween. What a way to end the spooky season!

Support your local theaters

Coming to a stage near you, Broadway in Binghamton and Binghamton University are back at it again! Fan-favorite Fiddler on the Roof will play Nov. 8 and Nov. 9 at the Broome County Forum Theatre and Into the Woods will begin Nov. 4 with a total of five showings at Watters Theater in the Fine Arts Building. Sit back, relax and enjoy the beauty of theater!

Celebrate artistic talent at the 2022 Broome Art Trail

Calling all artists and art enthusiasts! Want to meet local artists and admire their craftsmanship while also listening to some live music? Come to the Broome Art Trail, open to the public Saturday, Oct. 1 and Sunday, Oct. 2. The artwork will be displayed throughout Broome County, including the Roberson Museum & Science Center and the Phelps Mansion Museum.

The Anderson Center is hosting its very own jazz concert series! The funk percussion band Ghost-Note plays Sept. 20 and consists of members who have backed famous artists like Kendrick Lamar, Justin Timberlake and Snoop Dogg. Better yet, Binghamton University ‘09 alumna Camille Thurman, a composer, multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, performs Oct. 8 with the Darrell Green Quartet.

Have fun during Family Weekend

Showing off your school to the people you love is always a special moment. Personally, spending time with my family during Family Weekend is one of my favorite parts about being a Binghamton student. Activities include a Late Nite Carnival, showings of the movie Thor: Love and Thunder, a comedy show, an art exhibition and so much more! The thrilling weekend starts Friday, Sept. 30 and ends Sunday, Oct. 2. There won’t be a dull moment during the largest campus event of the year!

Attend the Endicott Applefest

Embrace fall’s superiority and take part in Endicott’s annual tradition that is filled with music, food and over 90 vendors. You can honor all things fall from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17. Get your wallets and stomachs ready!
