COVID-19 Policy

COVID-19 Policy for the University Testing Center

As an on-campus service, the University Testing Center strictly adheres to the COVID-19 guidelines sent out by Binghamton University. A summary of our COVID-19 guidelines, as well as the complete policy, can be found below:

Summary

All visitors to the UTC (students, faculty, staff, and guests) are required to wear face coverings properly and maintain a six-foot distance from others while on-campus. This policy will be strictly enforced with the UTC and any on-campus testing spaces. Failure to comply will result in the following:
  • You will be asked the leave the testing center or testing space and return with an approved face covering
  • Refusal to leave will be reported to the University Police Department
  • You will no longer be eligible for future services from the UTC
  • The UTC reserves the right to inform the Office of Student Conduct and/or Risk Management, which may result in university sanctions, including suspension from the university, and/or disciplinary action from Human Resources, as appropriate

If you are a student who is unable to wear a face-covering due to a disability, please contact Services for Students with Disabilities at ssd@binghamton.edu to explore other potential accommodations. Faculty and staff should contact Human Resources for assistance.

Full Policy

Binghamton University has adopted requirements to protect the health of students, faculty, staff, and the community at large. Safeguarding public health depends on each of us strictly following these requirements. Binghamton University recommends and supports swift action and clear consequences if non-compliance risks the safety of others. Health and safety standards will be enforced in all interactions at the University Testing Center.

For all in-person interactions, current rules require everyone to wear a face covering correctly so that it completely covers both the nose and mouth tightly at all times and to maintain a 6-foot spacing when seated. A face shield is not an acceptable substitute. If you forget your face covering or it does not meet these requirements, you will be asked to leave the testing center or testing space until an appropriate covering is acquired. If available, a face covering may be provided to you. You may not return to the testing center or testing space until you meet this requirement.

If a student does not comply with these requirements and refuses to wear their face covering properly, leave when directed by UTC staff, and/or follow instructions for reseating, UTC staff will immediately contact the University Police Department for assistance. A report will also be issued to the instructor of the course and the Office of Student Conduct which may result in course-level penalties and/or sanctions from the university, which include, but are not limited to: failure of the exam, failure of the course, suspension, and/or expulsion from the University.

If a faculty or staff member does not comply with these requirements and refuses to wear their face covering properly or leave when directed, UTC staff will immediately contact the University Police Department for assistance. A report will also be issued to Risk Management which may result in disciplinary action from the Human Resources office, as appropriate.

Due to the health and safety of the campus community, all visitors, including those with disabilities, must adhere to the University face covering policy where it is required. If you are a student and unable to wear a face covering due to a disability, please contact Services for Students with Disabilities to explore other potential reasonable accommodations. Faculty and staff should contact Human Resources for assistance.

If you become ill or are asked to go into quarantine/isolation, you are not allowed to interact with the UTC or UTC staff in-person. You should immediately notify your instructor or supervisor and follow instructions from health providers and/or health authorities.
