Dateline
Dateline is a news/announcements vehicle that is distributed via email to Binghamton University faculty and staff at 9 a.m. each weekday throughout the year, including summer and winter sessions, except for major holidays when the University is not in session. It includes items submitted by members of the campus community as well as announcements from the administration.
It is also available on the web at binghamton.edu/dateline.
To submit an item, go to binghamton.edu/dateline and click on the green Submit an Announcement button at the top left of the screen and complete the form.
Important tips for Dateline submitters
- Double-check that you have included all necessary details in the body of your message (time, date, place, RSVP link, etc.).
- Include an appropriate contact person/office in the contact field.
- Do not use periods after URLs or the links won’t function.
- Add http:// to all URLs in the URL field or within the body of a message or the links will not function.
- Items that run on both Dateline and B-Line must be submitted separately.
- If you cut and paste an item into the Dateline submission form that includes an embedded URL, the URL will not function. You must include the actual URL in your submission.
Frequently asked questions
-
How can I subscribe to Dateline?
Faculty and staff are automatically subscribed to Dateline based on hiring reports received twice a month from the Office of Human Resources. Individuals who have not been added automatically in a timely fashion may contact dateline@binghamton.edu and provide their name and email address to be added.
-
I am a retiree and have stopped receiving Dateline. Can I be resubscribed?
Faculty and staff are generally unsubscribed when they retire or leave the University. If they wish to continue receiving Dateline, they should send a message to dateline@binghamton.edu to be resubscribed.
-
I am submitting a research study seeking participants. Is there anything I must do
to ensure it runs?
You must provide an actual copy of your Institutional Review Board Human Subjects review approval letter before your submission can be run on Dateline. Simply send a copy of it to dateline@binghamton.edu.
-
Can I advertise my business on Dateline?
Non-University affiliated commercial enterprises cannot be promoted on Dateline. The exception would be if a student organization or department is working with a commercial enterprise and any proceeds from the collaboration are to benefit the student organization, department or University, such as a charity fundraiser.
-
Can I promote my nonprofit’s event on Dateline?
Non-University affiliated nonprofit announcements cannot be promoted on Dateline.
B-Line
B-Line News is a news/announcements vehicle that is distributed via email to all registered Binghamton University students at 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays when classes are in session (or every weekday at times such as during the COVID-19 pandemic). It goes to all registered students and is the official means the University has for communicating to students. It is not sent during breaks (winter or summer sessions) or days when classes are not in session. It includes items submitted by students and other members of the campus community as well as announcements from the administration.
It is also available on the web at binghamton.edu/b-line.
To submit an item, go to binghamton.edu/b-line and click on the green Submit an Announcement button at the top left of the screen and complete the form.
Important note
B-Line News is NOT the same as the B-Engaged Calendar, which is sent every day, Monday through Sunday, during the academic year. B-Engaged uses the B-Line listserv for its daily distribution, which is sent at 10:30 a.m. to all registered students to provide a comprehensive calendar of events listing. B-Engaged is managed by the Student Affairs Assessment and Solutions for Engagement office (SAASE) at b-engaged@binghamton.edu.
Important tips for B-Line submitters

Frequently asked questions
-
How can I subscribe to B-Line?
All registered students are automatically subscribed to B-Line at the beginning of each semester, and the list is refreshed several times throughout the summer and academic year to ensure all registered students are receiving it.
Faculty and staff interested in receiving B-Line should send a message to that effect to b-line@binghamton.edu to be manually added.
-
Can I unsubscribe from B-Line?
Because B-Line News is the official means Binghamton University has for communicating with students, students who unsubscribe will be resubscribed the next time the B-Line list is refreshed.
