Background
Patricia Rourke grew up in New York City and attended SUNY Buffalo before pursuing her MA in Clinical Psychology at Binghamton University and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of Iowa. She completed her clinical internship at the Brockton VAMC in Brockton, MA. She returned to Binghamton University in 1993 as an adjunct assistant professor in the Department of Psychology. She has been working at the University Counseling Center since 2011. Her clinical and professional interests include providing group and individual therapy services to students experiencing difficulties with respect to anxiety, mood disorders and trauma. Her preferred theoretical orientations center around behavioral and CBT approaches including DBT. Rourke also maintains an interest in providing clinical training and supervision. In her spare time Rourke enjoys travel, visiting museums and antique shops, long walks, spending quality time with family and friends, reading, theater, and exploring the Finger Lakes and other regional attractions.
